D.A.V. Public School, Sector 37, Faridabad’s field witnessed the ‘ANNUAL SPORTS MEET’ from 17th to 19th November, 2009. The primary wing meet of the session 2009-10 turned out to be a huge success and left smiles on many faces and instilled confidence in young sports persons.

The spirit of sportsmanship engulfed the children, the moment they gathered in the field. Principal Mrs. Neelam Gandhi declared the meet open on 17th November, 2009 and the next two days were full of sports events and activities. In pursuance of the vision of Principal Mrs. Neelam Gandhi – A healthy body resides a sound body, all the 1350 students participated in the events. The enthusiasm and zeal of the students was evident as they participated in Aerobics, badminton, kho-kho, long-jump and varied colourful races. A healthy refreshment was given to the students for all the three days. The sports meet was a wonderful effort made to instill the qualities of self-discipline, team work, sacrifice and positive attitude among the students.

On 19th November, 2009 the school observed the prize distribution of little talented sportspersons by befitting personalities Mr. Amit Khanna and Mr. K.L. Khurana ji. The former is renowned International Sprinter who has brought laurels for India many a times and Mr. Khurana is the Regional Director of D.A.V. Public Schools, Palwal Zone.

The ceremony started by enchanting Gayatri Mantra. A heartiest floral welcome was given to Chief guests, Principal, Supervisors of various wings by enthusiastic students. Reverend Principal Mrs. Neelam Gandhi encouraged the children who have brought laurels to the school at broader level in her speech. The stopping attraction of the event was song presentation by ‘WAR’ – We are Rocking: musical band of Primary wing. The another marvelous attraction of the show was aerobics where the students of various houses exercised at the tapping of music. In these special moments of ‘Fun and Frolic’ at D.A.V, a peppy sporty dance stole the heart of people. Special races were held for the parents and then the long awaited moment came when the winners of various events were bestowed with prizes. Chief guests Mr. Amit Khanna and Mr. K.L. Khurana appreciated the remarkable efforts put in by D.A.V faternity for the all round development of the children. They encouraged the students to participate in sports and sweat their body to stay healthy Shivalik house did best at Aerobics and so won the trophy. Trophy for best discipline was bagged by Everest House.

Indeed the initial step of these kids in the sports field was strong. As all the great things have to come to an end, so was the meet, but it will certainly linger on in the minds of children and even the adults.
